Celebrating 100 Episodes of the Song Revolution Podcast with Don Moen

This week we’re celebrating our 100th episode with global worship leader, singer songwriter, and music business professional, Don Moen. Don’s contribution to worship music is nearly unparalleled with his dozens of CDs, hundreds of songs, and millions of miles traveled leading worship worldwide.

More on Don in a minute,  but as I look back on the last 18 months, I’m just blown away with the amazing guests we’ve had – – too  many to name them all – – but we’ve had classic and new CCM Artists like Michael Card, Jason Gray, Ginny Owens, Cindy Morgan, Sanctus Real, Zach Williams, Tim Timmons, and Aaron Shust.

We’ve had well-known worship leaders from Planetshakers and Bethel like Cody Carnes, Chris McClarney, and Jon Thurlow. We’ve had Christian songwriters whose names you might not know but who’ve had dozens of songs recorded like Kenna Turner West, Krissy Nordhoff, and Tony Wood who’ve dropped value bombs all over the place in their episodes you can glean from for your own songwriting.

We’ve also had top industry professionals like Centricity’s John Mays, Integrity Music President Jonathan Brown, LifeWay Worship Director Mike Harland, Gospel Music Association’s Executive Director Jackie Patillo, and iconic Christian music publisher Randy Cox who helped start it all with Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, and so many more in the early days of Christian music in Nashville.

But we’ve also been committed to bringing you aspiring singer songwriters like our own Terrance McCoy, our sweet friends Drakeford, Trevor Graves, and other worthy guests whose stories deserve to be told.

And better yet – – we’re just getting started! We believe this podcast is one of the greatest untapped resources for Christian songwriters all over the world who want to learn songwriting, writing song lyrics, learn to write music, and get terrific songwriting training from people who’ve helped shape the entire industry over three decades.

So if you haven’t been following us very long, let me encourage you to take a little time to browse the archives we have at nashvillechristiansongwriters.com for over 100 hours of informative and inspirational interviews and teaching designed to help you fulfill your own calling right where you are.

And to celebrate our 100th episode, I can think of no one any better than my dear friend, Don Moen, to have on the show today to talk about his amazing career and ministry that still finds him all over the world any given week singing and leading worship for tens of thousands of people.

In this episode we talk about his travels, the early days we worked together at Integrity Music, a lot about Christian songwriting and worship and life and the amazing work we’ve been able to play a small part in as worship swept the world in the last thirty years.

Don’s personal mission statement is “To be an architect who designs products and events that help people experience God’s presence in new and fresh ways.”

And in more than three decades of ministry, he’s had lots of opportunity to fulfill that purpose.
His discography reflects his passion to create resources for the church that lead people into an honest and intimate relationship with the Lord. In 2002, his peers recognized that lifelong commitment and presented him with the Ray DeVries Church Ministry Award.

Don has also received a Dove Award for his work on the musical “God With Us” and has received multiple Dove Award nominations for his songs, CDs and choral resources.
In addition to his writing and recording, Don makes time to tour domestically and abroad and has performed with artists such as Chris Tomlin, Twila Paris, Sara Groves and Paul Baloche to name a few. He also has served as worship leader for past National Day of Prayer events and as a music industry spokesperson, having been featured on Fox News, NPR and in USA Today.

Don is as popular overseas as he is at home in the U.S. His travels for concerts and seminars have taken him to Ghana, South Africa, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Guatemala, Honduras, and elsewhere. Today, Don is President of Don Moen Productions in Nashville, Tennessee, where he resides with his wife Laura and five children.
